Customs Strike in Brazil

Please be informed that for the last couple of weeks, Brazilian Customs has been in strike.

Please be informed that for the last couple of weeks, Brazilian Customs has been in strike. Customs are not  working twice a week on TUE & THUR.

This has generated a huge backlog, with severe consequences on customs clearance formalities and timing. Consequences have been felt since arrival of cargo, for the entrance registration, which is the first step taken in order to allow the clearance procedure to start.

As well, the timing for clearance is even longer (when not getting green channel from system), which has also generated to importer sometimes, higher costs on storage fees.

There is no expectation of when this situation will end.

This strike is affecting ALL ports, airports and boarders in Brazil.
