On February 10th, 2021, SENATOR INTERNATIONAL together with IAG Cargo successfully handled the import of 1.7 million respirators. The transport was carried out in a British Airways B777-200 passenger aircraft converted into a freighter. Specifically, the flight went from Shanghai to Munich. In total, more than 17,000 cartons weighing 21.1 tons were transported.
Background: After the wearing of an FFP2 or equivalent medical respirator mask became mandatory for Germany in December in public transport, in stores and at the workplace, the demand for corresponding "personal protective equipment" (the so-called PPE) has increased enormously.
Last year, IAG Cargo and SENATOR INTERNATIONAL already worked closely together on the transport of medical equipment from China to Europe. Tim-Oliver Kirschbaum, CEO of SENATOR INTERNATIONAL, commented, "Having already handled several charter flights with IAG Cargo, we knew we could rely on their expertise and support. Everything went smoothly - from the creation of the flight plan to the actual loading and unloading of the aircraft."
